Bible
Curriculum
Faith is an integral part of our educational philosophy, and we use Awe & Wonder, a specialized Bible curriculum designed for students with special needs, to guide our students in their spiritual growth. This program fosters a deep connection to biblical teachings while accommodating diverse learning styles, ensuring each student feels valued and understood in their faith journey.
Reading Curriculum
We implement the renowned Orton-Gillingham approach by the Institute of Multisenory Education as our core reading curriculum, specifically tailored for students with diverse learning needs. To further enhance our reading program, we incorporate Lexia Core 5 and ASD Reading, providing comprehensive support that helps students develop foundational reading skills in a way that resonates with them.
Handwriting/Writing Curriculum
Writing is a crucial skill, and at Beacon of Hope Academy, we use Handwriting Without Tears as our core curriculum to support our students in developing their writing abilities. This program incorporates tactile, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities to make learning to write accessible to all learners To further enhance this, we incorporate the Bible using Simply Classical's CopyBook curriculum, allowing students to practice their handwriting while deepening their spiritual understanding.
Math Curriculum
Our core math curriculum centers around TouchMath, a hands-on approach that makes math tangible for learners. To enrich this experience, we also utilize Zearn Math, allowing students to explore mathematical concepts in an engaging and interactive manner.
Enrichment Curriculum
In our commitment to holistic education, we incorporate Mrs. C & Me from Answers in Genesis as one of our enrichment curriculums. This program brings biblical principles to life through engaging science, art, music activities and lessons.
Social Skills Curriculum
Additionally, we use Simply Classical's Myself & Others curriculum for social skills development, equipping students with essential interpersonal skills in a compassionate learning environment.
